We are seeking a Certified Child Life Specialist for our Child/Adolescent & Brain Injury Unit. The ideal candidate is compassionate and skilled at assessing, planning, and implementing interventions to promote effective coping and healing for our medically complex population. As a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS), you'll play a crucial role in our Therapeutic & Developmental Support Services team, ensuring quality family-centered care alongside our clinical multidisciplinary team.

  • Assesses, plans and implements interventions to promote effective coping and healthy processing of treatment course for both patient and family unit.
  • Fosters collaboration through in-house inter-disciplinary work. Manages individual caseload of primary patients and plans and oversees Child Life groups.
  • Precepts for Internship program and provide volunteer supervision.
  • Contributes to program development and hospital wide initiatives.
  • Participates in educational initiatives, highlighting content to reflect most significant hospital needs.
  • Facilitate special events/visitors.
  • Perform other duties as signed by supervisor.
  • One year of experience in child life or related field.


Educational

  • Bachelor’s degree in Child Life, Child Development or closely related field required. Master’s degree preferred.


Certification

  • Certification Mandatory through the ACLP (or eligible for exam with certification within 6 months of hire)
  • Responsible for maintenance of Certification according to the schedule of the Child Life Council (CLC) through Professional Development Hours (PDH’s)/credentialing exam.
  • Standing, walking, stooping.
  • Ability to transfer children and equipment.
  • Ability to meet flexible scheduling demands and patient care needs.
