Qualifications

  • Must openly identify as someone with lived mental health experiences.
  • Must hold a Peer Wellness Specialist or Peer Support Specialist certification and be registered with the Oregon Health Authority Traditional Healthcare Worker Registry.
  • At least one year of relevant lived experience and knowledge of child- and youth-serving systems.
  • Preference for experience with Native American/Alaska Native communities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and active listening skills.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a role model to inspire hope and share life experiences as appropriate to the recovery process.
  • Provide mentoring, advocacy, coordination and direct assistance to help clients obtain daily living necessities including health care, housing and transportation.
  • Collaborate with the team to promote client self-determination and respect for client preferences in treatment planning.
  • Promote consumer self-help programs and advocacy organizations supporting recovery.
  • Support clients in navigating medical, legal/entitlement, and transportation resources.
