Armed Services YMCA National Headquarters in El Paso, TX is seeking a part-time classroom aide to support teachers, implement activities, and foster a safe, engaging environment for children. The role starts at $11.50/hr and focuses on building achievement and belonging among youth and families.

The position requires a High School Diploma or GED, or an AA/ CDA preference, and at least one year of related experience.

Formación

• Minimum of High School Diploma or GED.
• AA in ECE, ECD, Education & Teaching or CDA preferred.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Experience, minimum 1 year, working with children in a developmental setting.
• Any combination of educational and work experience that would be equivalent to the stated minimum requirements would qualify for consideration.
• Must have reliable transportation and possess and maintain a valid Texas driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record, including proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage and insurability under the Agency’s insurance carrier standards.

Responsabilidades

• Assist teachers in developing and preparing plans outlining learning experiences and activities for a group of children.
• Implement the program to meet the needs, special interests and capabilities of children and in accordance with the lesson plan.
• Ensure children’s safety and know how to carry out emergency procedures when needed.
• Attend parent-child events as necessary.
• Provide a neat, clean environment for all children, including snack/kitchen area, and monitor children’s activities to ensure that children clean up after themselves.
• Attend staff meetings and in-service training to meet Continuing Education requirements.
• Communicate with parents through the lead teacher and as required by the CDC Director.
• Assist with children during transitional times and changes in the daily schedule.
• Work cooperatively with all staff, communicating directly and avoiding gossip between employees.
• Interact with the children at all times, especially during snack time, group activity time and outdoor time.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and attractive room, including shelves, closets and drawers.
• Observe behavior of children and discuss unusual behaviors with the teacher or CDC Director.
• Demonstrate flexibility to move from one group of children to another when requested.
• Participate in special events, field trips and special programs.
• Become familiar with state regulations and inspections procedures, as well as policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
• Support the program goals of the ASYMCA.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.

Basic Job Description :

Qualifications, Education, and Experience :

• Minimum of High School Diploma or GED.
• AA in ECE, ECD, Education & Teaching or CDA preferred.
• At least 18 years of age.

• Previous experience planning, organizing, and implementing age- and developmentally appropriate activities.
• Any combination of educational and work experience that would be equivalent to the stated minimum requirements would qualify for consideration of this position.
• Must have reliable transportation and possess and maintain a valid Texas driver’s license, a satisfactory driving record, including proof of personal vehicle insurance coverage and insurability under the Agency’s insurance carrier standards.

Work Environment and Physical Demands :

• Position is physically demanding and requires constant bending, stooping, and lifting (15lbs), as well as walking and standing; must be willing to assist in moving household items and furniture.

Licenses/Certifications :
