Position Summary
As Child Development Center Assistant, you will work as an assistant to the full time staff member in charge of the classroom.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in implementation of daily curriculum that provides social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and spiritual experiences for the children in the classroom.
- Follow proper safety guidelines to ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.
- Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures and techniques.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in childcare or education preferred.
- Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices of young children.
- Ability to provide guidance for young children.
- Ability to work with children and move quickly, assist and supervise young children, lift children, equipment and supplies, and hear and see at a distance.
- Exhibit patience, creativity, flexibility, enthusiasm and stamina.
Certificates and Licenses
- 15 clock hours of training annually pertaining to growth and development, curriculum, health and safety and professional development.
- Bloodborne Pathogens and Right to Know training as required by federal law.
- Successful completion of background checks, physical and PPD (TB skin test).
- Able to constantly lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Able to constantly push/pull up to 25 lbs.
- Able to stand and walk constantly.
Other Requirements
- At least 18 years of age.
- Consistently model Christlike attitude and demeanor with staff, children and parents.
Required Education: High School Graduate or GED.
Required Experience: One to two years related experience preferred.
