Job summary

Wesley United Methodist Church is looking to hire two part-time Child Care Teachers for our Mother’s Day Out program, starting in September. Compensation is $13.75–$15.00/hour, with Monday–Thursday 9am–12:30pm hours and reports to the Mother’s Day Out Director.

The Child Care Teacher will support 2.5–5 year olds with nurturing activities, safety, and collaboration with the MDO Director in a ministry setting.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 and able to pass background checks.
• Experience in a Christian child care setting preferred.
• First Aid and CPR certification required or arranged.
• Minimum two years’ experience with preschool-aged children.
• Reliable, caring, patient, and enthusiastic.

Responsibilities

• Provide nurturing care to children aged 2.5 to 5 years, planning age-appropriate activities.
• Read aloud, lead games, sing, crafts, snacks, and toilet training support.
• Ensure safety and follow Safe Sanctuaries policies.
• Set up activities and clean up the classroom each day.
• Discuss child development with the Director and maintain staffing ratios.
• Other duties as assigned.

Summary

The Child Care Teacher is a team member of Mother’s Day Out, a religiously exempt, part-time child care program operated as a ministry of Wesley United Methodist Church. This person helps create a nurturing and stimulating environment where young children can explore, learn, and grow through play, creativity, music, and other activities.

Qualifications

• Individual must be at least 18 and be able to pass background checks.
• Comfortable working in a Christian child care setting.
• First Aid and CPR certified (training/certification can be arranged prior to starting work).
• At least two years’ experience providing care to preschool-aged children.
• Enjoy working with children, reliable, caring, patient, and enthusiastic.

Responsibilities

• Works with Mother’s Day Out Director to provide nurturing care to children age 2 ½ through 5 years of age.
  • Tasks may include planning age-appropriate activities, reading aloud, leading games, singing, crafts, distributing snacks, changing diapers, supporting toilet training, and introducing shapes, numbers, alphabet, etc.
  • Support children’s emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
• Ensure children’s safety, including following Safe Sanctuaries child protection policies (training provided).
• Help set up for activities and clean up classroom each day.
• Discuss child development and behavior with Director.
• Ensure appropriate staffing ratios and coverage at all times.
• Other duties as assigned.
