Job summary

Michigan Association of School Boards is seeking a part-time Child Care Provider Assistant for St. Joseph County ISD.

The role supports early childhood services, engages with children, and upholds a nurturing environment across classrooms and family child care settings. Responsibilities include administering High Scope Curriculum and Conscious Discipline, coordinating with Early On and ECD programs, and maintaining records.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or equivalent, or CDA credential preferred or willing to obtain CDA.
• Willing to meet an approved compliance plan to earn needed credentials.
• Ability to use computers, software and other current technology.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
• Maintain professional atmosphere and demeanor as a representative of St. Joseph County ISD.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• CPR/AED and First Aid Certified.
• Physical presence required at designated job site each scheduled work day.
• Regular and reliable attendance and ability to perform the job.

Responsibilities

• Communicate (written and oral) with parents, families and program staff.
• Maintain professional atmosphere in classroom or family child care home as a representative of ISD.
• Engage in activities with children at their physical level.
• Create a supportive, nurturing, strength-based atmosphere.
• Implement High Scope Curriculum and Conscious Discipline during visits.
• Provide care during evening meetings as required.
• Support all child care provider sites.
• Provide lunch coverage as needed.
• Sub in classroom as needed.
• Provide resources for families and children as requested.
• Implement developmentally appropriate practice.
• Adhere to Head Start Program Performance Standards.
• Coordinate with Early On, Early Head Start, GSRP and Early Childhood Special Education as needed.
• Attend and engage in ongoing professional development.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Early Childhood Standards of Quality for Infants and Toddlers.
• Partner in universal supports for all children.
• Maintain appropriate records.
• Involve families in community activities as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned by St. Joseph County ISD Administration.

• Adhere to the Standards of Conduct as outlined in the Head Start Program Performance Standards (1305.52(i)(1)(i-iv).
• Communicate with Early On, Early Head Start, GSRP and Early Childhood Special Education as needed for collaboration throughout programs.
• Attend and engage in continuous professional development.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the Early Childhood Standards of Quality for Infants and toddlers.
• Partner in implementation of universal supports for all children.
• Maintain appropriate records.
• Involve families in community activities as appropriate.
• Perform other duties as assigned by St. Joseph County ISD Administration.
