Job summary

Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking a Child Care Director to oversee Early Learning and Care programs and ensure high-quality, safe environments. You will lead planning, implementation, and adherence to state licensing and YMCA policies, while coordinating staff and communications with families.

The role requires a degree in education or human services and at least 2 years of childcare experience; benefits include comprehensive coverage and opportunities for growth within a non-profit community

Qualifications

• Present documentation of achieved degree from an accredited college or university in education or human services related field as defined by state licensing regulations.
• Verify a minimum of 2 years (2500 hours) of childcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Read and adhere to YMCA Policies, State Licensing Body regulations, and Quality Rating System standards.
• Supervise staff and ensure safety of children in direct care groups while maintaining attendance records.
• Communicate with parents regarding children's program experiences and progress, maintaining confidentiality.
• Provide positive Adult/Child interactions and age-appropriate verbal guidance.
• Attend trainings in alignment with YMCA policies and licensing regulations, including 6 hours annually.
• Direct and maintain safe environments, using positive reinforcement for behavior management.
• Record weekly child observations and address development concerns with parents.
• Coordinate daily child-centered, developmentally appropriate learning experiences within guidelines.
• Maintain program operations in line with policies and quality standards for audits.
