Job summary

Bath Area Family YMCA is seeking a dedicated youth care assistant to float across multiple program sites in Bath, ME. You will supervise youth, model positive behavior, and support enrichment activities for children in Y Care programs.

Requirements include 16+ years old, experience with children, ability to run structured activities, and CPR/First Aid certification. The role demands reliability, confidentiality, and strong communication, with a flexible schedule to cover shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16 years.
• Experience working with children of varied ages.
• Ability to provide structure to youth and run meaningful activities & games.
• CPR/First Aid Certification and other Maine-specific requirements.

Responsibilities

• Float between all child care sites including Kate Furbish, Fisher Mitchell, Woolwich, Brunswick ELC, and Haggett Center.
• Supervise youth and model positive behavior for participants.
• Meet program goals and follow Maine licensing rules and internal handbooks.
• Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism.
• Be flexible with scheduling to meet staffing needs.
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Follow local Y and national guidelines and policies.
• Provide guidance on school age topics and lessons.
• Be proactive, self-sufficient, and highly motivated.
