Job summary

Bath Area Family Ymca Master is seeking a helpful youth program assistant to float between care sites in Bath area, providing a safe, engaging environment for children. You will support program staff, build positive relationships with families, and help ensure activities meet licensing and family handbook guidelines.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Float between all child care sites: Kate Furbish, Fisher Mitchell, Woolwich, Brunswick ELC, and The Haggett Family Learning Center.
  • Supervise youth and model positive behavior.
  • Meet program goals and follow licensing and family handbook guidelines.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Be flexible with scheduling to meet staffing needs.
  • Communicate effectively in writing and orally.
  • Follow internal policies and provide guidance on school age topics.

Job Details: Job Location: BATH, ME 04530. Salary Range: $16.00 - $17.50 Hourly

Position Summary

The person selected for this position will be under the direct supervision of the Youth & Family Director and Enrichment Directors. They will be responsible for providing an appropriately safe, caring, and enriching environment for the children enrolled in Y Care and Enrichment programs. In this position you will build relationships with parents, school staff, students, Y team members, and help manage sites in Brunswick and RSU1. This position will float between all sites and all locations.

Essential Functions
  • Float between all child care sites: Kate Furbish, Fisher Mitchell, Woolwich, Brunswick ELC, and The Haggett Family Learning Center.
  • Supervising youth and presenting positive role modeling through all interactions with program participants.
  • To meet program goals/rules as outlined in the State of Maine Child Care Licensing, NAEYC, staff handbook, family handbook.
  • Keep confidentiality, loyalty, and practice professionalism.
  • Be extremely reliable and dependable.
  • Work a flexible schedule to meet program staffing/planning needs.
  • Exercise mature judgment and sound decision making.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Learn, follow, and enforce local Y and national guidelines related to internal policies.
  • Provide guidance on school age topics/lessons.
  • Be proactive, self-sufficient, and highly motivated.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Minimum Age Requirement of 16 years.
  • HS Diploma or General Equivalent Diploma (GED) preferred, not required.

  • A demonstrated ability to provide structure to youth and run meaningful activities & games.

  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from participants and/or administration.
  • Ability to write reports that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions that deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Maine Roads to Quality.
  • Mandatory Reporting.
  • DHHS Fingerprinting.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
  • Stand; walk; sit; use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; and talk to hear.
  • Stand for up to 6 hours.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
