Job summary

The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is looking for a Child Care Director to lead an Early Learning and Care program, ensuring safe, high-quality experiences within state licensing and quality rating standards. This full-time on-site role requires oversight of staff, compliance with policies, and effective family communication.

You will plan daily activities, monitor attendance, and coordinate trainings while guiding a team to deliver engaging learning experiences and prepare for annual audits.

Qualifications

• Present documentation of achieved degree from an accredited college or university in education or human services related field as defined by state licensing regulations.
• Verify a minimum of 2 years (2500 hours) of childcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Read and be accountable for YMCA Policies, State Licensing Body regulations, and Quality Rating System standards.
• Supervise by identifying and ensuring the safety of children and maintaining attendance.
• Communicate effectively with parents, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate patience.
• Provide quality adult/child interactions with positive feedback and age-appropriate guidance.
• Attend and renew trainings reflected in policy and regulations, including 6 hours annually.
• Direct and maintain environments that build children's self-esteem and use positive reinforcement.
• Record weekly child observations and address development concerns with families.
• Coordinate, plan, and implement daily child-centered learning experiences within guidelines.
• Prepare for annual audits and ensure readiness for inspections and assessments.
• Lead professionally and supervise all staff at the site.
• Prepare and distribute quality written communications to families.
• Meet deadlines for lesson plans, reports, and supply requests.
• Aim to maintain enrollment levels.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Education or Human Services
