The Child Care Cook, Food Specialist, is responsible for overall food preparation for the school’s enrolled children. This role requires adaptability to menu changes and adherence to meal and snack schedules.

As a Food Specialist, you will be:

  • At home in the kitchen! Create home-style, nutritional meal plans within the school's menu and budget, complying with state and federal requirements. Prepare meals and snacks for children and staff, and distribute food to classrooms.
  • Focused on health and safety! Follow the daily menu provided by the Director, ensuring compliance with USDA, licensing, and health department regulations.
  • Organized! Maintain inventory of food and supplies, and reorder as needed.
  • Helpful! Assist in classrooms as needed as an Assistant Teacher/Floater.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in cooking and/or food preparation for multiple individuals in a childcare setting is preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and adhere to all current state and local regulations.
  • Flexibility regarding hours and schedule.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Compensation varies based on position, education, and experience, with bi-weekly and daily pay options.
  • Assistant Teacher: $15-18/hour
  • Teacher: $18-20/hour
  • Lead Teacher: $19-22/hour
  • Health insurance (medical, dental, vision, FSA) for full-time employees; limited medical available for part-time workers.
  • Education assistance, including tuition reimbursement and certification support, 401K with company match, life and disability insurance, and child care discounts for all employees.
