- Plan and execute early childhood education experiences using varied materials to support each child's emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development
- Work with the director and teachers to develop and implement age-appropriate curricula and activities
- Help establish a positive program environment promoting child, youth, and adult interactions
- Assist in providing and leading planned activities
- Interact with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques
- Interact professionally with staff, parents, and command
- Maintain program participation data and complete required daily reports
- Prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials
- Monitor children in classrooms, playgrounds, hallways, restrooms, study halls, lunch areas, and bus loading areas
- Maintain control of and account for children's whereabouts and safety
- Arrange for and serve appropriate snacks and meals where applicable
- Perform routine caregiving tasks and attend to children's physical needs
- Conduct health checks and ensure children's safety and well-being
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Must be able to read, write and speak in English
- One year of general experience working with children, working in a group program with children and/or youth
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds and over, sit and rise from the floor, walk, bend, stoop, and stand routinely
- Duties may involve working both indoors and outdoors
- Ability to satisfactorily complete Tier 1 background investigation, including state checks, upon hiring and renew every 5 years
- Ability to satisfactorily pass the Civilian Medical Clearance Examination at preplacement and every two years
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must satisfactorily complete a Federal Background check and all pre-employment requirements
- Males born after 12/31/59 and at least 18 years old must be registered with the Selective Service System unless exempt
- Applicants may not be employed in the chain of command of their relatives
