Job summary

The Commander, Navy Installations Command in Newport News is seeking a Custodian to perform cleaning, housekeeping, and semiskilled duties across CYP facilities, including cleaning, equipment maintenance, laundering, and minor repairs. You will move furniture, assist with event setup, deliver supplies, and maintain cleaning inventories while ensuring safety and effective English communication.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of a variety of chemical and cleaning agents.
• Skill to operate, clean, and adjust powered cleaning equipment.
• Physical ability to move furniture, lift and move objects over 50 lbs, and stand for long periods.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, and possess strong interpersonal communication skill.

The Custodian performs a variety of cleaning, housekeeping, and semiskilled duties for CYP facilities: facility cleaning, equipment maintenance, laundering, minor facility repairs, outdoor maintenance; and maintaining inventories of cleaning supplies. They deliver supplies, merchandise, and equipment to other CYP facilities. As needed, they move furniture and/or program equipment, and assists with event setup (e.g., setting up tables and chairs.
