Job summary

Together for Talent is seeking a hands-on CTO/VP of Engineering in Williamsburg, NY to lead a small engineering team building an AI-powered platform for hotels. You will own technical direction, architecture, and developer practices while delivering production software and integrations.

You’ll partner with the CEO, shape product priorities from customer feedback, and grow the team with a bias toward practical, well-built software. Equity is offered as part of the package.

Qualifications

  • Recent, substantial experience building and operating production software across modern web, cloud, and data technologies.
  • Meaningful experience shipping LLM-powered or agent-based systems beyond prototypes.
  • Practical understanding of AI evaluation, tool use, context management, failure recovery, and the tradeoffs between cost, latency, and reliability.
  • Strong product instincts. You challenge assumptions, understand customer needs, and help decide what’s worth building.
  • Evidence of technical leadership: setting direction, earning trust, mentoring engineers, and taking responsibility for outcomes.
  • Experience hiring and developing engineers, or demonstrated readiness to take on that responsibility.
  • Comfort with early-stage ambiguity and a bias toward useful, well-built software.
  • Humility, kindness, and the ability to raise standards without adding bureaucracy.
  • Experience in vertical SaaS, complex integrations, workflow products, hospitality, or travel is helpful.
  • Familiarity with our tech stack: TypeScript across the full stack. Backend: NestJS, Postgres, TypeORM. Frontend: React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS. AI: Anthropic and OpenAI models through the Vercel AI SDK, ElevenLabs for voice, and production agentic workflows. Infrastructure: AWS and Vercel, with Stripe for billing.

Responsibilities

  • Set technical direction and make architecture decisions that support today’s customers and tomorrow’s growth.
  • Stay active in the codebase, shipping critical features and solving difficult technical problems.
  • Build dependable integrations, data systems, and AI-powered workflows.
  • Strengthen reliability, security, observability, and engineering quality without introducing unnecessary process.
  • Work with the CEO and customers to translate business problems into product priorities.
  • Hire, coach, and develop the engineering team.
  • Establish thoughtful AI-assisted development practices across testing, code review, documentation, and human oversight.
  • In your first 90 days, you’ll get close to the product and codebase, establish clear technical ownership, improve reliability, and shape architecture and hiring priorities—all while continuing to ship.

Job description

B2B AI Start Up | Hospitality Technology

Location: Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY (fully in-office)

Compensation: $225-275k base salary depending on experience + meaningful equity

Build the product. Shape the architecture. Grow the team.

Our client is building an AI-powered platform that helps independent hotels grow revenue and simplify operations. Starting with digital marketing, they’re replacing disconnected software, agencies, and manual workflows with a more unified way to run the business.

With live hotel customers across North America and a recently closed $11M seed round, the company is hiring a hands-on technical leader to own engineering and help build its next chapter.

This is a player-coach role, not a leadership seat removed from the code. You’ll partner directly with the CEO, work alongside a four-person engineering team, and take responsibility for both what gets built and how it gets built.

What you’ll own

  • Set technical direction and make pragmatic architecture decisions that support today’s customers and tomorrow’s growth.

In your first 90 days, you’ll get close to the product and codebase, establish clear technical ownership, improve reliability, and shape architecture and hiring priorities—all while continuing to ship.

Who we’re looking for

You’re a builder with the judgment to lead. You can move from a customer conversation to an architecture decision to debugging production code. You’ll bring:

We’re open to experienced CTOs, VPs of Engineering, and Heads of Engineering who want a deeply hands-on role, as well as exceptional staff, principal, or founding engineers ready to lead the function. Title will reflect experience and readiness: CTO or VP of Engineering with a path to CTO. Either way, this person must be prepared to own engineering and technical direction.

Why this opportunity

  • Build on existing customer traction rather than starting with an untested concept.
  • Own technical strategy, architecture, and engineering team development.
  • Partner directly with the CEO and influence product and company decisions.
  • Join while the team is small enough for your work to shape how the business operates.
  • Help solve concrete business problems with production AI.
  • A cash-and-equity package calibrated to experience and scope.
