About Orbit Crates

Orbit Crates is changing the future of play through a sustainable, toy rental experience where parents can rent, rotate, and return high-quality toys instead of buying and storing them. We are tackling the pain point of cluttered homes and bored kids through an innovative business that’s taking off with families. From a technology perspective, we are positioned to expand our circular economy eCommerce platform, and other back-end investments into a significant competitive advantage, thereby turning a $5.2 billion total addressable market into a sustainable rental flywheel that delights families and keeps plastic out of landfills.

• Traction: Paying subscription customers with monthly ARR; strong NPS; little/no churn.
• Funding: Bootstrapped + non-dilutive funding awarded through pitch competitions and accelerator programs. An aggressive seed-raise timeline (< 9 months).
• Tech: Shopify storefront + proprietary database + upcoming AI-features. Proprietary tech using agentic AI on our roadmap.

About the Founder

The founder is a 3x product founder; ex-CPO who is taking her 20 year career in startups, consulting, and corporate innovation to her own passion-led venture. She has bootstrapped Orbit Crates to find strong product-market fit with subscription customers, and is actively growing monthly recurring revenue. She has proven that she can pitch and win - with customers, partners, and investors. She has onboarded a small team of contractors and interns who are helping advance logistics and operations, and fill in technical gaps. She has led technical teams in the past and is ready to turn over the reigns to a technical partner. She knows what it takes to build products that customers love, and teams and companies that scale.

She now seeks a tenacious technical counterpart who is passionate about the circular economy, children, and better solutions for families.

This is a hands-on role with our current Shopify tech stack with custom webhooks. You’ll be responsible for delivering small features to test and iterate on based on an existing customer backlog. You do everything technical - from bug fixes and optimizations, configure 3rd party applications; manage contractors; to eventually build custom – while the founder sells; talks to customers; and closes investment.

You’ll also be responsible for the long-term technical strategy including proprietary builds; evaluation of a long-term technical stack; and investments in AI.

What You Bring

You love to code. You do it for fun, and enjoy new technical challenges as well as conventional technical builds that have an immediate impact with customers. You are a strong communicator who can collaborate quickly and efficiently with a non-coding founder. You also have a strong eye for design, and follow basic human-centered design principles. You love being a tech all-star, but have aspirations to build a technical empire, and can manage existing contractors and interns. You are passionate about building solutions for families and kids.

• 5–8+ yrs building customer-facing software (circular economy, eCommerce, marketplace, logistics, or subscription a plus).
• Fluency in modern web stack
• Comfort stitching together APIs, payments, and data pipelines.
• Obvious interest in leveraging and implementing AI.
• U.S.-based, able to collaborate 3–4 hrs/day in Eastern Time.
