HireStarter's client is seeking a strategic, hands-on CTO to lead the modernization of their enterprise platform for Life Sciences and Manufacturing. This role requires a rare mix of architectural depth, technical leadership, and change management—guiding the transformation from a legacy, monolithic system to a modern, scalable SaaS platform. As a key member of the senior leadership team, you’ll drive their technology vision, lead a distributed engineering team, and ensure technology is a catalyst for innovation and growth.

What You'll Do

Technology Leadership

• Lead modernization from legacy VB.NET and Web Forms to modular, service-oriented architecture (.NET Core/6+).
• Leverage AI to drive engineering and operational efficiency across the company.
• Implement architecture patterns (clean, hexagonal) to support scalability and maintainability.

Team & Execution

• Lead and scale a high-performing, globally distributed engineering team.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Apply agile methodologies to maximize product delivery velocity and value.

Product & Infrastructure

• Collaborate with product leadership on roadmap execution and prioritization.
• Oversee cloud infrastructure, security, performance, and uptime.
• Drive continuous improvement in system architecture, testing automation, and DevOps practices.
• Ensure systems meet regulatory standards.
• Mitigate cybersecurity and data privacy risks.
• Manage strategic technology vendors and partnerships to optimize cost and quality.

What We're Looking For

• BS in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience, advanced degree a plus.
• Proven success modernizing legacy platforms into scalable, cloud-based SaaS systems.
• Deep experience with .NET ecosystems: VB.NET (legacy) and modern .NET Core/6+ (target).
• Experience driving company effciency via the adoption of AI.
• Strong grasp of software architecture and systems design principles.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD, automated testing, infrastructure-as-code, and monitoring.
• Track record of leading teams of 10-30+ engineers and shipping enterprise-grade software in regulated industries.
