Job summary

Transportation Alternatives seeks a Managing Director to join TA's Senior Leadership Team, partnering with the Executive Director and Director of Development to lead fundraising strategy and revenue growth for a mission-driven nonprofit.

The role oversees HR, finance, technology, and operations, ensuring robust internal systems and compliance while cultivating a workplace that values diversity and inclusion. This position is based in New York City with hybrid work expectations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of senior-level experience in nonprofit management, operations, or organizational leadership.
• Demonstrated experience in people management and direct staff leadership.
• Experience at the senior leadership level with organization-wide management responsibility.
• Experience managing or overseeing a nonprofit development/fundraising function with revenue goals.
• Track record of business and/or marketing success.
• Experience managing labor-management relationships, including direct union contact.
• Strong financial literacy and experience with budgets and reporting.
• Ability to lead a senior leadership team and drive cross-functional decisions.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Enthusiasm for TA's mission and values.
• High emotional intelligence and sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Lead TA's senior leadership and coordinate organizational strategy.
• Oversee finance, HR, data systems, and operations functions.
• Develop and manage revenue strategy and development budget with the Director of Development.
• Manage the Director of Development and oversee fundraising programs and grants.
• Represent Development priorities in SLT and with the Board.
