Job summary

Smithbucklin, a leading professional services company, seeks a Chief Staff Officer to support the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) in Chicago. You will align strategy with operations, lead membership growth, and optimize data, CRM, and governance systems.

Qualifications

Experience in association management, membership, operations, or related functions with demonstrated growth/results.
Strong project and process management discipline with ability to translate strategy into execution across functions.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across staff teams, volunteer leaders, and external partners.
Familiarity with communications and public relations is a plus.

Responsibilities

Act as the primary operational strategist supporting the Board and translate priorities into actionable plans.
Oversee membership growth, value creation, and engagement metrics.
Lead data governance, CRM performance, and marketing automation configurations.
Supervise staff and foster a collaborative, results-driven culture.
Provide Board with timely insights, dashboards, and reports to inform decisions.
