Job summary

Exa, an in-person opportunity in San Francisco, seeks a strategic security leader to define and own the company’s security program across cloud, data pipelines, and products. You will drive risk posture, architecture decisions, and incident response while partnering with executives to align security with business goals.

You will establish governance, manage third-party risk, and lead initiatives for SOC 2 and ISO 27001 compliance, with a focus on scalable security across a high-growth AI infra

Qualifications

• Experience building or leading security at a technically ambitious, high-growth infra/AI company.
• Accountability for company-wide security with strategic and technical credibility.
• Ability to balance strategy, risk, architecture, incident response, and implementation details.

Responsibilities

• Define Exa’s security strategy, operating model, risk framework, and multiyear roadmap.
• Own security architecture across products, data pipelines, cloud, Kubernetes, and AI systems.
• Lead detection, incident response, crisis management, and recovery capabilities.
• Oversee governance, regulatory readiness, and customer assurance (SOC 2, ISO 27001).
• Recruit, develop, and lead a security team and communicate posture to leadership.
