Job summary

Exa, an applied AI lab, is seeking a senior security leader to define and own the company-wide security strategy across products, data, and infrastructure in San Francisco. You will partner with founders and the executive team to shape risk appetite, governance, and a multiyear roadmap while guiding threat modeling, incident response, and compliance programs.

• Ability to align security strategy with business goals and executive leadership.
• Strong technical credibility with strategic decision-making and risk assessment.

• Define Exa’s security strategy, operating model, and multiyear roadmaps.
• Own security architecture across products, data pipelines, cloud, Kubernetes, and training systems.
• Lead incident response, crisis management, and regulatory readiness including SOC 2 / ISO 27001.
• Recruit and develop a high-performing security team and communicate posture to leadership.
