RAND is seeking a visionary Executive Director to serve as Chief Security Officer, leading a 55-person S&CO organization and advancing RAND's classified research capabilities across U.S. offices.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of security, classified support, and/or IT experience, including at least 5 years in management and direct experience in both classified security and IT‑related leadership roles; at least 15 years preferred.
• Experience managing security programs in high‑regulatory environments and leading cross‑functional teams.
• Experience leading change and transforming processes and organizational culture.
• Experience building trusted relationships with researchers, senior leaders, and government officials.

Responsibilities

• Set the department's vision, strategy, goals, and execution priorities; lead execution with metrics.
• Ensure robust policies, procedures, and processes for classified operations.
• Direct Insider Threat Program and CSO responsibilities; manage incidents and risk mitigation.
• Maintain compliance with NISP and other federal requirements for classified operations.
• Liaise with sponsor security organizations and government agencies to enable mission.
• Stay ahead of regulatory changes and adopt new security/AI technologies.
• Lead and manage security resources, staff, and facilities.
