Job summary

Blach Construction seeks a Vice President of Risk Management to guide risk strategy across the company, reporting to the President and serving on the Leadership Team. This executive role shapes how risk is built into pursuit, contracts, safety and insurance programs as Blach scales its growth.

The VP will lead the risk function, coach the team, manage major claims, ensure regulatory compliance (Cal/OSHA) and coordinate with Operations, Preconstruction, Finance and HR to protect value and enable

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, risk management or related field; JD valued.
• 15+ years of progressive experience in construction risk management, insurance, construction law or construction operations, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role
• Experience leading contractor insurance programs, renewals, broker relationships; captive program a plus
• Experience with Cal/OSHA matters
• Negotiated prime agreements and subcontracts across delivery methods

Responsibilities

• Lead risk strategy as a Leadership Team member advising on growth strategy, major legal issues, and contract/insurance strategy.
• Own safety and Captive insurance program direction and performance.
• Oversee Blach’s broader insurance program including OCIP/CCIP and project coverages.
• Manage surety relationships and bond capacity planning.
• Lead project risk management including subcontractor prequalification and compliance.
• Coach and develop the risk team and train project teams on risk-related topics.
