Job summary

The University of Maryland School of Medicine invites applications for a tenured/tenure-track Associate Professor or Full Professor to serve as Vice Chair for Research in Emergency Medicine and hold a joint UM-IHC appointment as Director of Emergency Medicine Informatics. The role provides strategic and scientific leadership at the intersection of emergency medicine and health data science.

The candidate will build and lead a nationally recognized research program, shape informatics

Qualifications

MD/DO or MD/PhD with board certification or eligibility in Emergency Medicine.
Eligibility for medical licensure in Maryland.
Proven record of peer-reviewed publications and extramural funding for appointment level.
Expertise in AI/ML, clinical decision support, EHR data science, or learning health systems.
Experience with large-scale clinical data analysis including EHR data.
Demonstrated leadership in informatics or data science.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic leadership as Vice Chair for Research in Emergency Medicine.
Lead as Director of Emergency Medicine Informatics at UM-IHC and guide AI/ML initiatives.
Oversee research operations, IRB compliance, and sponsored program coordination.
Develop and advance informatics infrastructure for real-world emergency care.
Mentor students, residents, and junior faculty in informatics and data science.
Foster multi-site collaboration and external partnerships.
