Chief Purpose of this position: We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our dynamic academic emergency medicine team as a Physician Informaticist. We are seeking a full‑time candidate who will work 75% of their time clinically and 25% dedicated to clinical informaticist duties. The clinical time will be split between our downtown adult ED and our free‑standing ED at New Kent. The candidate will contribute to our mission of providing exceptional patient care, innovative research, and high‑quality education in emergency medicine. The department is nationally recognized for innovative management of chest pain, stroke, major trauma, and high acuity medical cases. In addition, the Virginia Poison Center is a division component of this department. The VCU Department of Emergency Medicine also provides coverage at other VCU Health facilities including a free‑standing Emergency Department serving the rural patient community of New Kent, Virginia, which sees over 15,000 patients per year and community hospitals in Tappahannock, Virginia and South Hill, Virginia which see 20,000 patients per year and 25,000 patients per year, respectively.

Virginia Commonwealth University Department of Emergency Medicine houses an Emergency Medicine 3‑year residency program. We also partner with the Air Force and train their residents as well. We are one of only 12 programs to house a combined Emergency Medicine‑Internal Medicine residency program. Finally, the Department offers fellowship programs in Administration, Emergency Medical Service, Medical Education, Pediatric Emergency Medicine, Clinical Toxicology, Ultrasound, and Ultrasound Resuscitation.

Faculty may be recruited at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or full Professor commensurate with experience.
