Job summary

Masonic Village at Elizabethtown is seeking a Chief Registered Dietitian Nutritionist to oversee comprehensive nutritional care for residents in a long-term care setting. You will lead the Nutrition Services team, develop policies, and ensure regulatory compliance while coordinating interdisciplinary care plans.

Ideal candidates bring RD and PA licensure with at least five years in clinical dietetics within long-term care, plus strong communication and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Must be a Registered Dietitian and PA-licensed in Pennsylvania.
• Minimum five years as a clinical dietitian in long-term care with management experience.
• Strong written and oral communication and appropriate computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, oversee, and deliver comprehensive nutritional care of residents as per physician diagnosis and regulatory requirements.
• Assume Nutrition Services Manager responsibilities in absence of the manager.
• Develop and implement policies, procedures, and standards of care; ensure HACCP compliance.
• Lead Medical Nutrition Therapy, including clinical assessment and therapy planning for high-risk residents.
• Provide guidance to medical, nursing, and staff on nutrition interventions; maintain HIPAA compliance.
• Participate in Care Plan Conferences and interdisciplinary meetings to discuss resident nutrition.
• Coordinate in-service education for Food Services staff and develop education programs.
• Train Food Services Supervisors in general nutrition and medical nutrition therapy as needed.
• Promote excellent dining experiences and timely information management within the nutrition team.

What You'll Do As a Chief Registered Dietitian Nutritionist

As a Chief Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, you will carry out our Mission of Love by planning, overseeing, and delivering comprehensive nutritional care of residents in accordance with the physicians' diagnosis and requirements of regulatory agencies.

• Assumes the Nutrition Services Manager position and responsibilities in the absence of the Nutrition Services Manager.
• Assists the Nutrition Services Manager in the development and implementation of policies and procedures, and standards of care to meet the needs of the residents and the requirements established by regulatory agencies. These regulations include federal, state, and local requirements as well as HACCP requirements.
• Assists the Nutrition Services Manager in the implementation and coordination of the Food Services Quality Improvement Program as directed. Oversees indicators for monitoring the quality and appropriateness of resident care under Nutrition Services' scope.
• Leads the Nutrition team in performance of Medical Nutrition Therapy. This includes up to date comprehensive clinical assessment of residents related to diagnosis and disease conditions, geriatric needs, interpretation of pertinent laboratory values, food-drug interactions. Assess and plans therapy for residents at high nutritional risk (i.e. severe pressure ulcers, weight loss, tube fed, clinically complex).
• Performs and gives guidance to nutrition team regarding consultation with and providing recommendation to medical, nursing, and ancillary staff on appropriate nutritional interventions to improve resident nutritional status or prevent deterioration of health. Maintains HIPAA compliance.
• Participates in and guides nutrition team in regularly scheduled Interdisciplinary Care Plan Conferences and adjunct committee meetings to provide insight for resident's holistic well-being with specific focus on nutritional status.
• Coordinates the in-service education of the Food Services Department staff. Manages and maintain records of in-services and educational programs provided as directed. Develops and implements person-centered education programs related to food and nutrition for all facility staff.
• Assists in the training of Food Services Supervisors as directed by the Nutrition Services Manager. Particularly, provides education in general nutrition and medical nutrition therapy as it relates to resident care.
• Is role model and supports actions in staff that promote excellent dining experience for residents in their neighborhood and/or with specific needs.
• Demonstrates timely information management skills. This includes updates to Resident Assessment Instrument and use of clinical software, as well as providing resident care-oriented and menu planning/analysis functions in Food Services computer system.

What You Need As a Chief Registered Dietitian Nutritionist

• Registered Dietitian status with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist with the state of Pennsylvania.
• Minimum five years of experience as a Clinical Dietitian in long term care with both management and clinical experience required.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Proficient ability to use computer for data entry and word processing-type functions.
