Job summary

Girl Be Heard seeks a dynamic Director of Programs to partner with the Executive Director in executing the strategic plan and guiding program staff toward impact. This full-time exempt role is based in Brooklyn, NY, with remote work options and weekly home days.

The role oversees five program areas, 13 sites, and an international program, ensuring mission-driven goals, sustainable funding, and strong collaboration with education and artistic leadership.

Qualifications

• Five+ years in non-profit management and program development
• Experience developing and managing program staff and direct reports
• Deep understanding/experience in the creative youth development sector
• Extensive experience in classroom instruction, curriculum development, and coaching for teachers
• Strong presentation and public speaking skills for diverse stakeholders
• Experience working in diverse settings and groups
• Proficiency with Google Apps, Dropbox, Excel, and Word; Salesforce and QuickBooks a plus
• Knowledge of NYC PETS clearance and related policies

Responsibilities

• Oversee GBH program efforts across 5 areas, 13 sites, 1 international site and online programming
• Set mission-driven short- and long-term goals and ensure staff meet them
• Guide and support the Director of Education and the Artistic Director
• Build a collaborative team environment among program staff
• Oversee programmatic and pedagogical focus using Creative Youth Development
• Set program budgets and manage spending
• Collaborate with ED and Head of Development to diversify funding sources
• Cultivate institutional and individual funders (City Council, DCA, corporate sponsors)
• Develop monetization strategy for offerings with Education and Artistic Directors
• Develop strategic partnerships to elevate organization’s profile
• Deepen and widen program portfolio
• Refine systems to measure and improve program efficacy
• Collaborate with development/communications to use metrics and ensure compliance and impact
• Maintain active presence in communities and represent GBH at events/conferences
