Job summary

The ACLU of Kansas seeks its inaugural Deputy Executive Director and Chief Program Officer to lead strategy, program design, and evaluation. The CPO reports to the Executive Director and guides a senior team to advance civil liberties across Kansas.

The role supervises five directors, shapes unified advocacy campaigns, and collaborates with the board, volunteers, and partners. A hybrid work model is offered with travel across Kansas.

Qualifications

• At least five years of senior level experience in nonprofit or policy advocacy.
• Experience designing and executing integrated advocacy campaigns.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to travel across Kansas and work evenings/weekends as needed.
• Collaborative work with diverse groups and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy, planning, and day-to-day management of programmatic work.
• Supervise five senior program directors and coordinate five departments.
• Represent the organization externally to partners while maintaining internal focus.
• Oversee budgets for programmatic departments and ensure compliance.
• Drive equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging across the program.
• Build and sustain relationships with funders and partners.
