Job summary

Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF) is seeking a mission-driven Chief Program Officer to lead BEF's water, carbon, and energy programs. This executive will report to the CEO, oversee program directors, and drive performance, growth, and partnerships including tribal priority work.

The CPO will champion equity, innovation, and accountability while expanding BEF's client base and revenue streams to reduce concentration risk and strengthen program impact.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in environmental sciences, public policy, business administration, or related field strongly preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in environmental, sustainability, or related nonprofit sectors, with at least 7 years in a senior management role.
  • Strong command of program design, performance measurement, and continuous improvement frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive oversight and cohesion across BEF's water, carbon, and energy programs.
  • Lead Program Directors and Senior Directors, setting high standards for program quality and collaboration.
  • Develop and maintain a rigorous framework for program metrics and impact measurement.
  • Identify and resolve barriers to program effectiveness and growth.
  • Represent BEF in industry forums to advance water, energy, and multi-benefit stewardship.
  • Drive strategic growth areas including data center water and energy stewardship.
  • Ensure financial sustainability by aligning program budgets with priorities.
