Job summary

Lumber Company is seeking an executive to lead procurement, category strategy, supplier partnerships, and inventory planning. This role partners with sales, operations, manufacturing, finance, and leadership to build a scalable procurement organization and drive growth.

The VP will focus on margins, product availability, and working capital, while guiding cross-location teams and integration of acquired businesses.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in procurement, category management, merchandising, or supply chain with senior leadership.
• Proven success improving margins, negotiating supplier agreements, and leading change or acquisitions.
• Strong financial, forecasting, and analytical skills with ERP and BI familiarity.
• Hands-on strategic leader with communication, negotiation, and cross-functional influence.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise procurement and category strategies for lumber and related products.
• Negotiate supplier contracts, pricing, terms, freight, and rebates with strategic partners.
• Optimize assortments and SKU productivity to balance standards and local needs.
• Align demand forecasting with purchasing to improve availability and working capital.
• Monitor markets and risks; develop contingency plans for leadership review.
• Integrate acquisitions by aligning suppliers, purchasing practices, and systems.
• Establish procurement dashboards, scorecards, and supplier performance metrics.
• Develop the procurement team with clear roles and accountability.
