Job summary

QXO is seeking a Director of Commodities Procurement to lead lumber and wood products sourcing, manage supplier relations, and provide market insight for cost optimization. You will guide purchasing strategies, negotiate terms, and support operational teams to ensure supply continuity.

Ideal candidates bring 8–10+ years in lumber-focused procurement, strong market analysis, and proven leadership in cross-functional environments with ERP system proficiency.

Qualifications

• 8-10+ years of experience in procurement, commodity trading, or category management, focusing on lumber and building materials.
• Strong understanding of lumber manufacturing, grades, species, and the building materials supply chain.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with vendor relationship ability.
• Strong quantitative skills and the ability to interpret market data for profitable decisions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration required; supply chain or forestry training preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and LBM industry ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Marketing Analysis & Forecasting: Monitor lumber futures, cash markets, and economic trends to anticipate shifts.
• Strategic Procurement: Source dimensional lumber, engineered wood, OSB, plywood, and specialty products to meet objectives.
• Vendor Relations & Negotiations: Negotiate pricing, delivery, terms, and volume programs with mills and brokers.
• Inventory Management: Partner with operating companies to balance inventory and reduce carrying costs.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Advise procurement teams on market changes and sourcing opportunities.
• Performance Tracking: Monitor supplier performance, fulfillment, and product quality.
• Distribution Strategy: Identify reload center opportunities to support volume purchasing and redistribution.
