Job summary

Sinclair Community College in Dayton seeks a Chief Pilot to lead UAS/AAM flight operations, training, and applied research across CTOL/VTOL platforms and traditional aircraft. You will manage a team of experts, drive client engagements, and support revenue-generation initiatives.

The role requires FAA certificates (remote, private, commercial, instrument) and a strong background in aviation, leadership, and program management. This is an on-site leadership position based in Dayton, OH.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related topic is required; master’s degree in a related topic preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related aviation, UAS, or AAM industry experience required.
  • Background in aviation with traditional aircraft, AAM, and UAS related experience required.
  • Current FAA Remote Pilot Certificate required.
  • Current FAA Private Pilot Certificate required.
  • Current FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate required.
  • Current FAA Instrument Rating required.
  • Current FAA Flight Instructor and Instrument Rating certificates required.
  • Current or ability to obtain FAA Second Class Medical required.
  • Proven strategic planning and project management experience preferred.
  • Strong personnel management and team-building skills required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and proposal delivery experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and execute UAS, AAM CTOL/VTOL and traditional aircraft flight operations with a team of experts.
  • Advance revenue opportunities including meetings with clients and proposal support.
  • Promote public awareness of UAS/AAM and Sinclair brand nationally and internationally through demos and talks.
  • Manage readiness of UAS facilities, equipment, crew qualifications, and resources for operations and emergencies.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Chief Research Officer or Deputy Director.
