Job Description Summary / TWC Summary

The Chief Pilot is responsible for serving as the Instructor ofRecord for all flight training courses, ensuring compliance withFederal Aviation Regulations (FARs) in the training of students andsupervision of flight instructors while serving as faculty memberand performing instructional duties. Certifies training records, enrollment certificates, stage andFederal Aviation Administration ( FAA ) check rides, conducts stageand/or final test given to students; assigns and reports grades forall flight courses. Teaches assigned professional flight related courses and associatedlabs In accordance with the university’s workload policy; maintainswritten instructional standards; facilitates instruction usingalternative delivery methods as needed; informs students in writingof instructional standards; posts and maintains office hours;participates in the assessment of student learning outcomes;establishes, maintains and submits accurate student andInstructional records in a timely manner, participates in hiring ofinstructors and reviewing instructor invoices. Meets with eachstudent In person one-on-one each semester. Stays up-to-date on regulatory and procedural changes in the flighttraining environment; reviews flight training program courses;develops new courses, curriculum, and assists with the preparationof course proposals, curriculum updates and the construction ofdegree/certificate programsApplies and maintains standards of quality operating methods,processes, systems, and procedures; Implements changes as necessaryto maintain a compliant professional pilot program; integratesknowledge of industry trends and professional training tocontinuously improve program quality. Conducts initial proficiency check of each instructor to be used ina course of instruction; conducts annual recurrent proficiencychecks in accordance to FARs; supervises flight trainingactivities, assistant chief instructor, and flight Instructors;monitors flight instructor performance and makes recommendations;ensures compliance with FARs Maintains a cooperative and communicative relationship with FAArepresentatives; serves on committees as assigned.

Education

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree In a related field to Aviation orManagement.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree.
Required Licensing/Certification

As required for assigned duties .

  • Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate

Knowledge of:

  • Policies, procedures, and practices.

Working/Environmental Conditions
  • Prolonged standing and/or walking.

  • Using or carrying equipment.
  • Work may require routine travel.
