Qualifications

  • Must meet FAR Part 141 Chief Instructor qualifications for multiple pilot certificates.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual flight instruction for primary through advanced courses per FAA standards.
  • Conduct stage checks prescribed for each flight course.
  • Oversee the Flight Operations Assistant and manage documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with FAA regulations and college policies.
  • Provide counseling for students and maintain security of facilities.

Job description

This is a full-time position directly responsible to the Department Chair. The primary duties and responsibilities include providing instruction necessary for students to obtain applicable pilot certificates and ratings; providing counseling, guidance, and academic support to students as needed; and conducting stage checks in accordance with the College’s FAA-approved Part 141 training program. The position also serves as the primary liaison between Central Texas College (CTC) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Bachelor’s Degree

from a nationally, regionally or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education. Degree in Aviation or related field preferred. Master’s degree or 18 graduate hours in Aviation highly preferred.

Commercial AMEL and Multiengine Instructor preferred.

  • Hold a Commercial Pilot Certificate or Airline Transport Pilot Certificate and acurrent Flight Instructor Certificate with the appropriate aircraft category and class ratings and applicable instrument rating.
  • Minimum of2,000 hours of Pilot-in-Command (PIC) flight time.
  • Flight training experience as a Certified Flight Instructor consisting of at least 3 years and a total of 1,000 hours of flight training experience; or 1,500 hours of flight training experience.
  • At least100 hours of flight time under actual or simulated instrument conditions.
  • Instrument flight training experience as a Certified Flight Instructor-Instrument (CFII) consisting of at least 2 years and a total of 250 hours of instrument flight training experience; or 400 hours of instrument flight training experience.
  • Must have acurrent Flight Review in accordance with 14 CFR § 61.56.
  • Must meet the instrument recent flight experience requirements of 14 CFR § 61.57(c).
  • Classroom teaching experience and administrative or managerial experience highly desirable.
  • Must meet all requirements for a?FAR?Part 141 Chief Instructor position required for Private Pilot ASEL, Instrument ASEL, and Commercial Pilot ASEL.
  • Must be able to retain Basic Med, or an?FAA?Third Class or higher Medical Certificate
  • Classroom instruction experience experience highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of? FAA?Part 141 approved Flight School operations highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of and post participation in student extra-curricular activities highly desirable.
  • Provide individual flight instruction for primary through advanced flight courses according to?FAA?training standards. Supervision of all instructional activity.
  • Conduct stage checks prescribed for each flight course.
  • Oversees the Flight Operations Assistant
  • Responsible for managing pilot school documentation and academic records, ensuring compliance with Federal Aviation Administration regulations and Central Texas College policies and directives.
  • Certify training folders. Completion of all administrative functions including daily flight records, periodic reports, inventories, syllabi’s, etc.
  • Provide counseling for students and take disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Maintain security of building and equipment.
  • Coordinate with Airport Personnel on operational and safety issues.
  • Coordinates with the Federal Aviation Administrator’s Flight Standards District Office on any matters affecting program certification and regulatory compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned by The Department Chair.

Upon hiring, the applicant must successfully complete the?Chief Instructor knowledge test and proficiency test required by 14 CFR § 141.35.
