Job summary

The Chronicle of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking an adjunct instructor for the NW Aviation program at Northwest Campus to support student success using college resources and educational technologies.

Reporting to the instructional leader, instructors will deliver varied‑schedule courses, manage LMS, track attendance, and assess learning outcomes to ensure quality classes and student achievement.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher is required.
  • Current FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) is required.
  • Current Advanced Ground Instructor certificate is required.

Responsibilities

  • Accepts and teaches classes based on varied schedules and modalities (Dual Credit, On‑Campus, Online or Weekend College) as assigned by designated supervisor.
  • Accommodates student needs and external stakeholders' expectations of the College.
  • Prepares and delivers instruction using the approved learning management system.
  • Communicates with students and college officials via email, calls, and meetings.
  • Pursues activities to enhance subject matter expertise and instructional skills.
  • Prepares assignments and assessments to assure learning outcomes.
  • Maintains an active classroom environment conducive to student learning and success.
  • Maintains attendance records and certifies enrollments by deadlines.
  • Evaluates student performance per department standards.
  • Provides timely evaluation feedback and posts grades weekly.
  • Assigns grades consistent with course requirements.
  • Contributes to assessing student learning outcomes and program outcomes.
  • Accepts assignments at other sites for dual credit courses.

Compensation Details: Starting Pay - 65.00

Work Hours: Varies based on course schedule

Remote Eligible: This position is not eligible for remote work

Special Instructions to Applicant: This is a pooled posting utilized to hire adjunct instructors. Hiring supervisors review applications and make hiring decisions as part‑time faculty assignments become available.

Job Summary

Reporting to the campus department instructional leader, adjunct instructors provide assistance to students in their learning process by utilizing all appropriate college resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies available to complement the teaching and learning process providing a direct impact to student success.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Performance Requirements*

  • Accepts and teaches classes based on varied schedules and modalities (Dual Credit, On‑Campus, Online or Weekend College) as assigned by designated supervisor
  • Accommodates student needs and external stakeholders' expectations of the College
  • Prepares and delivers instruction to students following the College Master Syllabus using the approved learning management system
  • Communicates regularly with students and college officials, including responding to e‑mails, calls, and requests for meetings
  • Independently pursues activities to enhance subject matter expertise, skills in various modes of instruction, and knowledge of learning
  • Prepares assignments and assessments to assure achievement of learning outcomes
  • Designs and maintains an active classroom environment conducive to student learning and success
  • Maintains student attendance records weekly and certifies student enrollments by the established deadline
  • Evaluates student performance and learning in accordance with discipline and department standards
  • Provides regular and timely evaluation feedback to students, posts grades in the learning management system weekly, and submits final grades by the established deadline
  • Assigns grades consistent with course requirements
  • Assists in College's commitment to assessing student learning outcomes and program learning outcomes and to achieving institutional performance measures
  • Accepts assignments as necessary at other sites such as for dual credit courses
Service Excellence
  • Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of the College
  • Complete all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
  • Attends the workplace regularly and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
  • Adheres to College policies and procedures
  • Adheres to applicable safety procedures

Required Minimum Qualifications
  1. Associate degree or higher* and at least ONE of the following:
    • Current FAA Certified Flight Instructor
    • Current Advanced Ground Instructor certificate
  2. At least one (1) year's experience as a flight instructor OR at least three (3) years of directly related flight experience

*Degree must be from a regionally accredited college or university

Preferred Qualifications
  • At least one (1) year's experience teaching a class or facilitating training
  • At least one (1) year's teaching experience utilizing active learning techniques, service learning and innovative technology
  • At least one (1) year's experience teaching in Dual Credit and Early College High School programs
  • At least one (1) year's working experience with Initial Flight Training under Part 61 or Part 141
  • Current FAA Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument (CFII) within Initial instrument training
  • Current FAA Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument (CFII) Helicopter
