Job summary

Roots Community Health Center seeks an executive physician leader to drive enterprise-wide clinical governance, establish gold-standard practice models, and lead high-level academic and health system partnerships across Roots sites.

Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, this role shapes clinical education strategies, quality standards, and medical protocols within managed care environments. Location flexibility includes San Jose and/or Oakland, with 80–100% time and excellent work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted California license (MD or DO).
• Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or related primary care specialty.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical School (MD/DO).
• 5–7 years of clinical practice in primary care or community health settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct clinical governance and standard setting across Roots clinics and programs.
• Lead Faculty Practice management and direct patient care integration with residents and trainees.
• Build and manage academic health system partnerships and clinical education programs.
• Oversee EHR workflows, clinical education architecture, and measurement of quality.
