Job summary

The Augusta VA Medical Center, part of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, seeks an experienced Physician Leader in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation to supervise a team of physiatrists and oversee inpatient rehabilitation services.

Qualifications

• US citizenship
• Full and unrestricted medical license in US/state/territory/DC
• Board certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
• Residency training in an accredited program leading to board eligibility
• Reference to VA Qualification Standards for Physician roles
• Ability to perform duties with eligible medical staff supervision

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to a team of physiatrists acting as rehabilitation consultants to clinical staff
• Supervise inpatient rehabilitation program and coordinate with case management
• Lead and support CAM (complementary and alternative medicine) initiatives and pain management guidance
• Perform procedures such as electromyography, nerve conduction testing, trigger point and joint injections
• Ensure compliance with Joint Commission, HIPAA, PHI and VA Central Office standards
• Manage patient care through admission, discharge, histories and physicals, and coordinate rehab modalities
• Attend staff meetings and complete Talent Management System (TMS) requirements
• Adhere to VA policies and maintain high-quality care for veterans
