Job summary

The American Chemical Society seeks the Vice President of Philanthropy to lead a multi-year fundraising strategy and grow the Society's philanthropic pipeline. You will partner with the CEO, COO, leadership, the Board, and staff to expand major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, and donor stewardship.

The role oversees philanthropy operations, donor services, and campaign strategy, while shaping talent and cross-functional partnerships to accelerate fundraising growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible fundraising experience.
• Experience securing major and principal gifts and managing large campaigns.
• Ability to lead growth and organizational transformation in advancement.
• CFRE credential or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive philanthropic strategy aligned with ACS priorities.
• Lead the philanthropy function and manage teams across major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, and donor stewardship.
• Oversee budgets, forecasting, and performance reporting for fundraising efforts.
• Cultivate relationships with high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and corporate partners.
• Act as external ambassador to strengthen visibility and philanthropic investment.
