Job summary

Tohono O'odham Nation is seeking a Chief Optometrist to direct the TONHC Optometry program, supervise clinical staff, and provide high-quality eye care across TONHC facilities. The role includes administrative leadership, budgeting, and program development.

The incumbent will oversee education programs for students and residents, perform clinical duties, and coordinate services across four health centers with occasional travel.

Qualifications

• OD degree accredited by the Council on Optometric Education (COOE)
• Minimum of three years supervisory optometry experience
• Current license to practice optometry in the United States or a U.S. territory
• Background and driving record checks required for employment
• May require valid driver's license as needed

Responsibilities

• Directs, plans, and evaluates the Optometry program and staff
• Provides clinical supervision and comprehensive eye care across multiple clinics
• Oversees budgeting, program goals, and development of policies and procedures
• Coordinates education programs for students and residents
• Ensures regulatory compliance and patient confidentiality (HIPAA)
