Job summary

Tohono O'odham Nation Healthcare seeks a Chief Optometrist to lead the TONHC Optometry Program across Sells Hospital and four satellite facilities. You will provide clinical and administrative leadership, supervise staff, and advance eye care services in a multi-clinic setting.

The role requires a Doctor of Optometry and at least three years of supervisory optometry experience, with travel between TONHC facilities as needed. Licensure and HIPAA/compliance oversight are essential.

Qualifications

• OD license in the United States, District of Columbia, or territory.
• Minimum of 3 years of supervisory optometry experience.
• Ability to lead eye care programs and coordinate services across multiple clinics.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Optometry program and staff across TONHC facilities.
• Provide clinical eye care including evaluation and prescribing.
• Oversee performance improvement, education programs, and licensure requirements.
• Coordinate patient referrals and transports for urgent ocular conditions.
• Develop and implement policies, procedures, and program goals.
• Supervise and evaluate staff, schedule work, and manage leave.
