Job summary

Smiths Detection Inc in Edgewood, MD seeks a Vice President of Operations to lead manufacturing, supply chain, sourcing, and quality for the Americas region, reporting to the President under SSA.

The role drives Integrated Business Planning, supplier management, capital planning, safety, and continuous improvement across a matrix organization, with responsibility for budget and delivering on commitments.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in manufacturing operations
• 10+ years in supervisory roles
• 7+ years in CI/Lean environment
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
• MBA or Master's preferred

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the Operations strategy across manufacturing, supply chain, sourcing, logistics, quality, and facilities.
• Lead the Integrated Business Planning process to align demand, capacity, and financial objectives.
• Develop supply chain and supplier-management strategies to improve material availability and cost competitiveness.
• Partner with programs, technology, sales, service, and finance to support product introductions and commitments.
• Oversee capital planning, facilities, capacity, automation, and operational footprint decisions.
• Ensure compliance with quality systems, regulatory requirements, and trade controls.
• Lead lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs and improve yields.
• Promote a safe, world-class manufacturing culture and drive productivity.
• Manage annual operating plan and departmental budget; drive financial commitments.
• Drive inventory reductions and on-time delivery improvements.
