Job summary

Duke Health Cary Hospital is seeking a President & COO to lead multi-year planning, development, and activation of a major campus expansion. This executive will convert enterprise strategy into a high-reliability operating model, ensuring readiness, quality, and financial performance.

The role includes overseeing phased campus development, workforce planning, community engagement, and external stakeholder relations to deliver a world-class patient experience and sustainable operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degrees preferred.
• Experience leading complex hospital operations and capital programs.
• Proven success in aligning strategy with operating performance.

Responsibilities

• Translate Duke Health strategy into annual operating plans with clear KPIs.
• Implement Lean principles to achieve high reliability and efficiency.
• Define prioritized service lines and standards for care pathways, staffing, and throughput.
• Achieve best-in-class outcomes for safety, quality, equity, and patient experience.
• Own hospital P&L and oversee capital deployment, budgets, and activation plans.
• Lead campus master planning, design, and construction governance with transparent reporting.
