Job summary

The American Cancer Society (ACS) seeks a Chief Operating Officer to translate the strategic plan into a coherent, resourced operating agenda, aligning enterprise operations with growth and mission delivery. You will lead a cross-functional team across Enterprise Strategy, HR, IT, DEI, Communications, and Operations, reporting to the CEO, and partnering closely with the CFO.

The role demands a collaborative, decisive leader who can simplify processes, drive accountability, and scale ACS’s impact

Qualifications

• 15+ years of senior executive experience leading complex, multi-site/ multi-pillar organizations.
• Proven track record translating strategy into executable plans with measurable impact.
• Experience partnering with a CEO and driving enterprise-wide transformation.

Responsibilities

• Translate strategy into an annual operating plan with clear goals, metrics, and milestones.
• Lead and optimize core operational functions (HR, IT, DEI, Enterprise Communications, Operations).
• Enable the CEO and Executive Team while coordinating cross-pillar initiatives.
