Job summary

Atlantic Health Strategies, on behalf of ForrestBehavioral Health, seeks a hands-on Chief Operating Officer to guide operational performance and growth across Massachusetts and Illinois, with possible involvement in Rhode Island. The role emphasizes understanding an existing operating model, driving improvements, and scaling success while partnering with ownership and facility directors.

The COO will move between strategic leadership and practical problem-solving, coordinating across admissions,

Qualifications

• Direct professional experience within substance use disorder and/or mental health treatment operations.
• Leadership experience within behavioral healthcare at multi-site or senior operational roles.
• Knowledge of PHP, IOP, OP, residential, detox, or similar programs.
• Ability and willingness to travel approximately one week per month.
• Ability to maintain a home base in Massachusetts or Illinois.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations and performance across multiple behavioral health treatment locations.
• Partner with facility Directors to identify operational shortcomings and opportunities for improvement.
• Hold facility leadership accountable to organizational expectations, deliverables, performance standards, and deadlines.
• Support licensing, accreditation, regulatory compliance, and facility readiness initiatives.
• Help implement new programs, systems, processes, and locations.
• Travel between Massachusetts and Illinois facilities as needed; potential involvement in Rhode Island.
