Compensation: $300,000-$325,000 base | 50% target bonus | 1% management equity plan
Scope: National Operations and Product Fulfillment | 100+ franchise locations
A PE-backed and vertically integrated consumer home-remodeling franchisor is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to lead National Operations and Product Fulfillment. The company supports more than 100 franchise locations across +40 states and approximately ~$500 million in network sales.
This newly created role will integrate field operations, operating-standard governance, company-store P&L, manufacturing, distribution, sourcing, inventory, and product delivery. Company stores serve as the proving ground for new standards before network rollout, while franchisees source product through the company's facility and managed vendor network.
Core Responsibilities
- Set the strategy, operating cadence, performance measures, and initial targets for two defined business units, reporting an accurate and timely view of results and risks to the CEO and board.
- Own operating standards from in-home consultation through contract, project planning, installation, completion, and final payment; approve each policy entering the operations manual.
- Ensure standards are tested in company stores for 30-90 days, revised from structured feedback, launched with complete training and resources, and measured for adoption at 90 days.
- Hold consolidated accountability for company-store performance, including close rate, average ticket, cycle time, quality, customer satisfaction, labor, cost, and P&L.
- Oversee manufacturing, distribution, supply chain, vendor management, and order management through the facility General Manager; improve availability, on-time-in-full delivery, quality, margin, freight, inventory, and rebate capture.
- Identify and mitigate import, vendor-concentration, and single-source risks that could disrupt customer projects; maintain trustworthy catalogue and availability data.
- Build and validate the operating model and supply chain for an emerging kitchen-remodeling concept ahead of franchise deployment.
- Assess, develop, and, where needed, upgrade seven leaders spanning field operations, sales, project planning, production, policy governance, kitchen operations, and product fulfillment.
- Partner closely with peers who own marketing and lead generation, merchandising, franchise coaching and compliance, finance, and legal; achieve results through influence rather than direct authority over franchisees.
Candidate Profile
- 15+ years of progressive operations leadership, including meaningful experience at Vice President level or above.
- Direct multi-unit leadership of company-owned locations with P&L accountability for revenue, labor, cost, quality, and location leadership.
- Experience in home services, installation, remodeling, or a comparable model where field teams work inside customers' homes.
- Fluency in consultative in-home selling, including close rate, average ticket, presentation discipline, and one-visit-close economics.
- Record of creating operating standards, SOPs, playbooks, or certification programs and measuring field adoption.
- Ability to oversee manufacturing and distribution through an experienced GM using delivery, margin, freight, inventory, and quality measures; deep manufacturing engineering expertise is not required.
- Demonstrated ability to influence independent operators, cross-functional peers, and subject-matter experts outside the reporting line.
Preferred:
franchise or independent-operator experience; multi-brand or new-concept launch experience; exposure to imports, sourcing, vendor concentration, and policy governance
