Pacific Retirement Services (PRS) is a nationally recognized, not-for-profit senior living and healthcare organization dedicated to empowering people to live meaningful lives as they age. Headquartered in Medford, Oregon, PRS operates, develops, and manages a diverse portfolio of Life Plan Communities, affordable housing communities, and mission-driven programs serving older adults across the western United States.
With approximately $400 million in combined owned and managed revenue, 12 Life Plan Communities, and 25 affordable housing communities, PRS continues to grow through strategic affiliations, acquisitions, and expansion initiatives. As the organization scales, PRS is committed to strengthening enterprise-wide capabilities, driving operational excellence, and creating long-term value while remaining deeply rooted in its mission and values.
Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) will serve as the senior operational leader for PRS, providing executive oversight across the organization's owned, affiliated, and managed communities. As a key member of PRS's Leadership Team, the COO will advance the organization's strategic priorities by strengthening organizational alignment, leadership effectiveness, operational consistency, and enterprise-wide performance.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a mission-driven executive to join an organization with a strong reputation and significant growth potential. The COO will partner closely with PRS's Leadership Team, Executive Directors, community leadership, and corporate support functions to foster collaboration, reduce organizational silos, strengthen accountabilities, and drive a metrics-driven approach to operations. Key priorities include ensuring that PRS's communities are united around shared goals, enterprise priorities, and consistent operating practices (while preserving the unique character of each community).
The successful candidate will be a visible, relationship-oriented leader with experience guiding complex, multi-site organizations through growth and change. PRS's next COO will advance a culture of performance, leadership development, and operational discipline. The COO will reinforce system-wide standards, support the development of future leaders, and foster an environment where teams are supported and engaged.
Given the geographic breadth of the PRS portfolio, the COO will be visible across the regions where PRS has presence. The COO will reside in the Pacific Northwest, preferably with convenient access to a major airport, and is expected to spend several days a month in Portland, Oregon.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned executive, preferably with aging services or senior living experience gained in a multi-site and complex system. The new COO will have exceptional operational acumen and a proven track record of creating and leading high-impact teams.
