Job summary

Regents School of Austin seeks an experienced Chief of Safety & Security to lead a comprehensive campus safety program for 1,050+ students and 200+ staff on an 83-acre campus. The role requires law enforcement or emergency management background and involves incident command, budgeting, and collaboration with local agencies.

The ideal candidate will integrate faith with professional practice, ensure firearms and CPR/First Aid readiness, and oversee security technology, risk assessments, and staff

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution preferred for related fields.
• Extensive law enforcement, security, or emergency management experience required.
• Strong experience in risk assessment, security planning, and first response.
• Firearms training and CPR/First Aid certifications required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Incident Commander and first responder to all campus emergencies.
• Lead development and continuous improvement of campus safety and security programs.
• Evaluate risk across facilities, transportation, field trips, events, and off-campus activities.
• Conduct annual internal safety assessments; organize an external audit every three years.
• Develop the department’s annual operating plan aligned with strategic objectives.
• Maintain situational awareness of threats and implement preventative measures.
• Develop, schedule, and lead training programs, drills, and assessments for staff and volunteers.
• Ensure policies and emergency plans are reviewed and updated annually.
• Oversee security technology: visitor management, access control, LPR, and surveillance.
• Manage the department’s annual operating budget with focus on stewardship and efficiency.
• Serve as liaison with local law enforcement and emergency management agencies.
