The role leads clinical and administrative operations, aligns staffing, and drives quality, throughput, and patient satisfaction in a major safety-net hospital. The position reports within PAGNY’s academic, clinical, and administrative framework, coordinating with affiliated institutions to advance patient care, education, and research.

Qualifications

• Board Certified in Emergency Medicine
• Minimum of 5 years of experience, includes significant administrative and clinical experience
• Prior academic administrative experience with residents and medical students required

Responsibilities

• Manage administrative responsibilities such as integration and coordination of the clinical services Department scheduling and conducting clinical staff meetings
• Ensure clinical staff is trained and supervised and activities coordinated with other units
• Set providers’ schedules including call schedules and distribute schedules timely
• Supervise all providers, conduct new hire orientations, peer review, corrective actions, leaves, training and evaluations
• Assume clinical responsibility in conjunction with the team
• Foster Quality Assurance & Improvement Programs
• Adhere to the department's affiliation budget
• Monitor and improve provider productivity, documentation, and billing
• Monitor and maintain ED throughput metrics and patient satisfaction
• Collaborate on combined Emergency Medicine residency with NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan

Opportunity Details/Responsibilities:

• Manage administrative responsibilities such as effective integration and coordination of the clinical services Department scheduling and conducting clinical staff meetings, orienting and mentoring all new Physicians and Advanced Practice Clinicians
• Ensure clinical staff is continually trained and supervised and that activities of medical staff are coordinated with other operating units of the organization
• Responsible for setting providers’ schedules including “call” schedule, ensures distribution of new and revised schedules in a timely fashion to all providers, intake/eligibility supervisors, and Administration
• Supervise all providers, including performing new hire orientations, conducting peer review process, corrective action counseling, terminations, and approving all requests for leaves of absence, training, special requests, and annual evaluations.
• Assumes clinical responsibility in conjunction with the team.
• Fosters an environment that promotes Quality Assurance & Improvement Programs.
• Adhering to thedepartment's affiliation budget.
• Monitoring and improving provider productivity, documentation, and billing.
• Monitoring and maintaining ED throughput metrics and patient satisfaction scores
• Combined Emergency Medicine residency with NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan

Wages and Benefits include:

Annual Base Salary: $445,000-465,000* based on 40-hour work week.

The annual total value of compensation package is estimated at $521,000-541,000**,which includes the baseline salary, 401(k) contribution, and other factors as set forth below:

• Projectedbonus of up to $40,000 (based on previous year’s average), contingent upon meeting quality and productivity targets.
• 401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS contribution limits):
  • Employeesareimmediatelyvested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match isrequired.
  • Afterone year of service, employees receive anadditional7% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match isrequired.
