Panthalassa seeks a Director of Marine Environmental Impact to shape environmental standards for a new open-ocean energy platform. You will work with engineers, scientists, and marine operators to minimize ecological impact across iterations and deployments.

You will build a rigorous program with external partnerships and data-sharing to advance open-science in marine energy. This is a full-time on-site Portland role with fieldwork flexibility.

Qualificações

• This role requires a doctorate with a substantial record of research and leadership.
• Experience studying effects of human activities or technologies on marine organisms.
• Experience leading scientific programs or multidisciplinary initiatives.
• Extensive experience conducting research in marine or offshore environments.
• Ability to communicate findings clearly to diverse audiences.

Responsabilidades

• Build and lead internal environmental impact function as deployments scale.
• Expand research strategy around environmental impact and set research priorities.
• Define where uncertainty should influence strategy, engineering priorities, or deployment plans.
• Lead scientific evaluation of open-ocean technologies and marine ecosystems.
• Develop protocols for environmental assessment, monitoring, and mitigation.
• Establish metrics and standards for evaluating generations of technology.
• Lead documentation and publication of research methods and findings.
• Foster independent scientific review and third-party validation.
