Job summary

AeroVironment seeks a senior leader to own and evolve the enterprise narrative across six business units. You will define messaging architecture, supervise thought leadership, and advise executives on external framing for government and industry audiences.

You will align content strategy with corporate campaigns, maintain governance, and drive evidence of narrative impact, including AI visibility metrics and share of voice. This role reports to the VP of Marketing & Communications.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in communications, editorial, or narrative strategy including defense/regulatory environments.
• Ownership of an enterprise messaging architecture and its adoption.
• Built a thought leadership or editorial program from the ground up.
• Fluency in how defense buyers form views and decision processes.
• Ability to translate engineering data and program detail for executives, investors, and the public.
• Measurement literacy with KPI and performance tracking.
• Experience with export control, classification, and public-release constraints.
• Credibility with technical and program stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own AV's core corporate narrative, tiered messaging framework, and external positioning.
• Maintain enterprise narrative architecture linking strategy to executive messaging and storytelling.
• Own enterprise-level competitive positioning against peer set.
• Translate mission outcomes and milestones into market-ready narrative for government and industry.
• Lead AV's thought leadership program end to end including topic strategy and distribution.
• Scale the program across business units and align with buyer questions.
• Own byline, speaking, awards, and platform strategy for AV and executives.
• Align thought leadership with corporate campaigns to ensure coherence.
• Advise VP of Marketing & Communications and executives on messaging priorities.
• Build framing frameworks with Investor Relations and Washington Operations.
• Set standards for narrative governance and editorial systems.
• Oversee KPI, content performance, and AI visibility metrics.
• Identify narrative gaps from data and convert to content priorities.
• Establish connections between enterprise narrative and Sales/BD priorities.
