Job description

A growing Federally Qualified Health Center in the Atlanta area is seeking an experienced Chief Medical Officer to provide clinical leadership while helping shape the future of the organization.

This is an opportunity for a physician leader who understands that great clinical leadership is about more than metrics.

The ideal candidate will have experience supervising physicians and be highly collaborative, emotionally intelligent, and comfortable working with a diverse group of providers and personalities.

This person will help create accountability around clinical performance while also supporting a culture where providers feel heard, respected, and empowered to do their best work.

The CMO will have an approximately 50/50 split between clinical practice and administrative leadership.

The anticipated schedule will include approximately two to three days focused on administrative responsibilities and two days providing clinical care.

The organization currently has a team of approximately 15 providers, including 6 physicians and 6 Nurse Practitioners, along with a social worker supporting the behavioral health team.

What You Will Do

• Provide clinical leadership and oversight across the organization
• Balance clinical practice with administrative and strategic responsibilities
• Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other clinical team members
• Provide mentorship, coaching, and accountability to providers
• Help establish consistency around patient volume, documentation, follow up, quality, and clinical expectations
• Work with providers who have different strengths, working styles, and priorities
• Help navigate challenging interpersonal dynamics and strong personalities in a constructive and professional manner
• Monitor and help improve performance related to UDS measures and other federally established quality expectations
• Review UDS performance quarterly and work with the clinical team to ensure the organization remains on track with annual goals
• Partner with executive leadership on clinical strategy, quality improvement, provider performance, and organizational growth
• Collaborate with the COO and other members of the leadership team
• Help develop and implement clinical policies, processes, and standards
• Support a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• Build strong relationships with providers and staff throughout the organization
• Participate in the transition of clinical leadership responsibilities as the current Clinical Director prepares for retirement

Ideal Candidate
